Every January I always make a new years resolution. But most people don't follow thru. So this year someone I look up to said that no matter what your new years resolution is not important because God is always there and he has a plan for all of us. Well this past year i was chosen to be on the John Wesley Leadership Team as the Missions Team with Julia. With being on the Missions Team i have realized that God called me to be on the Missions Team.
A project that we did at John Wesley was called The Barefoot Mile. On this project we raised money to walk a mile barefoot and we also used a fund called The Shannon Stovall Memorial Fund. This fund was sent up in honor of Shannon Stovall who was an active youth at John Wesley who had a passion for missions. Also in the Barefoot Mile project we had a shoe drive and raised about eleven thousand dollars and a little bit over one thousand one hundred pairs of shoes. With all that money we purchased TOMS. For all those people out there who don't know what TOMS are, they are an organization that when you purchases a pair of shoes they send a pair of shoes over to a third world country children that have no shoes. Children in those countries die from disease that they get in the feet which are totally preventable if they had shoes.
I feel God gives those in the third world countries diseases and challenges in life to show that he can work through people in richer country like the United States of America to give the people of our country a way to show his strength and our faith in him to those people in the third world countries
But this year one of our big mission plans is to have a month all about hunger. I feel that with this month of hunger will be the Missions Team biggest month so far with the most planning and with Julia and my busy schedule I have decided to have God send his message thru me.So i found the verse Revelation 7:15-16 that has really made me think. 15 Because of this, they are before the throne of God. They worship him day and night in his temple. And the One who sits on the throne will be present with them.16 Those people will never be hungry again, and they will never be thirsty again. The sun will not hurt them, and no heat will burn them
So I have decided to not make a new year resolution and allow God to full control over my life. And use me to show his light in this dark world.
